Marine Safety Training Courses
Project Description
These training courses were developed for a major American construction company.
Safety is always the top priority in construction. Due to additional safety requirements when working on marine construction projects, employees and trade contractors needed to learn additional safety guidelines before entering marine jobsites.

The Development Process
This was an extensive project that lasted several months. After meeting with the project stakeholders, we determined the main safety topics that the construction workers should learn in order to be prepared for marine construction projects.
I interviewed the SMEs extensively on each topic, gathering notes on key safety procedures. I also reviewed relevant safety guidelines within the company's safety manual.
For each course, I wrote a training script in Word, which included interactive questions to check learner understanding. The SMEs provided feedback through virtual meetings, which I incorporated to then create a storyboard. This storyboard included narration, onscreen text, company photos/videos, as well as animations to clearly convey the training content. I managed communication with a video editor and voiceover actor to have the videos created using the storyboards. To finish, I used Articulate Storyline to incorporate the edited videos and to build the interactive questions. |

Project Highlight:
To best demonstrate the training procedures, I requested the client take on-the-job photos and videos, such as a worker demonstrating how to put on a life jacket. When actual photos/videos weren't feasible, I storyboarded animations that were then created by our video editor.
