Travel Game
Objective: Model the use of badges to gamify e-learning.
Background
This game was made for Articulate's elearning challenge No. 280 - How are badges, awards, and achievement used to gamify e-learning? As Articulate states in the challenge, incorporating game elements, such as rewards and points, can be a great way to engage learners and I agree!

The Challenge
I decided to focus on the idea of badges in this mini game. Perhaps because my own travel plans were cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, I went with a travel theme. I felt very inspired by some graphics on Freepik, giving the game a bit of a Studio Ghibli vibe in my opinion.
In this project, badges are earned by answering questions correctly. The badges were made using Freepik graphics laid over circle shapes to create a unified design that matched the rest of the game. I utilized object states to show the badges as they are earned on the main map - the final map shows the learner's achievement by displaying all badges together. It's simple, but the same procedure has potential to be used in a variety of ways.
I have to thank Jackie Van Nice for some inspiration on structuring my game. Her travel themed game can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/gZWMiFJ.
